Axminster Election Hustings

A message from the Clerk of Axminster Town Council

Dear fellow Clerks

The Town Council is not organising the hustings next week but has made The Guildhall available to all 7 candidates for a hustings event as a community interest amenity.
This will be chaired by Matt Smith, Director of the Community Waffle House here in Axminster.

I attach a poster for the event which you may wish to use on your website, social media, or noticeboards to encourage your parishioners to come along if they wish to.

We don’t believe there are any other events in the Axe Valley organised for prior to the 4th July – if there are any in your parishes, please let me know and I can get those publicised locally here too.

Kindest regards

Paul Hayward
Town Clerk

Next Meeting Date Changed

Important! The next meeting has been rescheduled to the 25th June, 2024

At the last Parish Council meeting, it was tentatively agreed that an Extraordinary Meeting (EOM) would be held on the 18th June 2024, specifically to approve the AGAR submission which has to done before 1st July.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, this EOM is now rescheduled to be held on the 25th June.

Restructured Financials Menu

The Financials menu is getting a makeover.

Over the next week or two, we will be restructuring the Financials menu to make it much simpler to navigate.

We will organise the menu into Financial Years, with the current financial year at the top of the list.

Behind the scenes, some of the reports have been modified to simplify their usage and make them easier to interpret and maintain. Each will be supported by an explanatory note.

So keep an eye out over the next week or so and let us know what you think.

The reports that will be available are as follows…

  • Receipts & Payments including Bank Reconciliation
  • Budget Monitor report
  • Budget Forecast
  • Budget & Precept for next year
  • Year End Cashbook and Bank Reconciliation
  • Fixed Assets Schedule
  • AGAR – Accounting Statement
  • AGAR – Annual Governance Statement
  • AGAR – Internal Audit Report
  • AGAR – External Audit or Exemption Certificate
  • AGAR – Notice of Public Rights and Publication of the AGAR reports

New Look Community Website

We’ve been busy behind the scenes updating the community website – aspc.org.uk. For those who haven’t seen it before (where were you?), it’s got a new look and new features for you to explore.

You can search, you can subscribe, you can go directly to related and useful websites and you can click Like on our news items and pages. You can share to social media and you can browse the Events Calendar.

If you have any comments (good or bad) or think something is wrong or missing, then use the Contact Us page on the website and tell us what’s on your mind. This will be handled in strict confidence and you’ll be contacted by someone from the Parish Council or our webmaster.

We may need to do some tweaking over the coming days and weeks but in the meantime, have a good look around and let us know what you think of the new look.

Note that the photo galleries are empty at the moment – but we’re working on that as well!
